The polar history

The polar history is an important part of Finse 1222’s identity. Finse has been described as a miniature Antarctic, and since the hotel opened in 1909, esteemed explorers such as Fridtjof Nansen and Sir Ernest Shackleton have used this place as a training ground before grand expeditions.

Even today, Finse serves the same purpose: we have adventurers and explorers alike visiting on a regular basis, whether they come to practice or to give seminars.
